Party Chief

The Party Chief is responsible for the managing the activities of a survey party throughout job site. The Party Chief provides highly technical support and insight to project management for heavy civil projects.

1.Utilize survey equipment and manage others to locate, review, and research job locations.
2.Operations include identifying landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes that would affect the required survey
3.Supervise survey work, evaluate priorities, and coordinate work efforts
4.Review the standard of work being performed and derive necessary field calculations from work completed
5.Utilize and provide training for survey instruments and equipment
6.Ensures that angles, distance, and information are accurate and conform to regulations and standards
7.Record and illustrate, in note form, a neat and legible reproduction of work performed
8.Consult with computer operators and provide knowledge during the final computations. Ensure that the final map of plat represents a comprehensive and accurate description of the field survey
9.Perform administrative functions such as completing time sheets, creating vehicle mileage reports, maintaining expense accounts, and documenting subsequent expenditures
10.Maintain a highly organized work area and manage multiple projects simultaneously
11.Write reports, business correspondence, and project documents
12.Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the organization
13.Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
14.Other unlisted duties will be assigned

1.Five (5) or more years or experience as a Party Chief in heavy highway and bridge projects
2.Be able to communicate in English via verbal and written communications
3.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and utilize Construction Math concepts including calculating rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs
4.Valid driver license for occasional, required travel
5.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
6.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables 7.Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind
8.Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects
9.Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
